1850 – (Project) Engineer Lifting Structures – update

SUPAIR is a recognized sponsor of the IND.

Non-EU engineers based in the Netherlands are also welcome to apply.

The company

This small and growing company in Zuid-Holland is an engineering-based contractor, providing turnkey exchange services as well as specialized lifting services. Their up-tower lifting technology uses compact and fully electric cranes that can be easily mobilized to any site using standard shipping containers.

Their goal is to minimize downtime, enhance performance and extend the lifespan of wind turbines.

They offer high-end solutions to exchange major components in offshore wind turbines, in both floating and bottom-fixed environments. Using their technology, major components can be safely exchanged offshore using a minimal amount of equipment and the requirement of towing wind turbines to ports is completely avoided.

The job

You will join a small team with engineering enthusiast from diverse backgrounds who work on tailor made lifting operations. These are not just standard solutions; their designs are creative and innovative to achieve a distinctive result.

The best part of it all is that you will experience the whole lifecycle of a project; the designed lifting and handling structures need to be manufactured, tested and certified. You get to see the result of your work in real time.

With your practical work experience in the field of structural mechanics, you guide junior engineers. You evaluate their work, discuss with them the improvements they can make and also learn from their view on how they approached the design.

What other responsibilities can you expect?

  • Creating lifting plans with the help of 3D CAD models to check if the repair job can be carried out safely.
  • Proposing adjustments to exiting cranes so they meet new project requirements.
  • Developing new concepts to keep up with the development of new wind turbines.
  • Guiding the manufacturing of new cranes and handling structures.
  • Writing test plans, test procedure and supervising the actual execution of the test.

You take full ownership of projects where good communication with colleagues, clients and subcontractors is essential. The world of offshore wind is dynamic and often past-paced and requires exchanging information with all the parties involved.

Job requirements

  • Discipline Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar (HBO or master)
  • You are streetwise and flexible
  • At least 1 year of relevant practical work experience
  • Strong knowledge of engineering mechanics/structural engineering
  • Excellent communication skills, a critical and accurate approach
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD software for example Solidworks/SolidEdge/Inventor or similar
